A walkaround of a Frame-Werx chassis on our shop floor.

Frame-Werx builds a complete 4×4 independent front suspension chassis for every generation of the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy, from the first 1969 trucks through the final square-bodies of 1991. It bolts to the factory body mounts without cutting or drilling, preserves the original wheelbase and stance, and replaces a tired, rust-prone frame with a hot-dip galvanized foundation engineered for modern power.

The K5 Blazer is where Frame-Werx began. The chassis was developed with a 1984 CUCV military K5 Blazer on the shop floor as its template, so every mount, clearance and dimension started with a Blazer, not a pickup adapted to fit one.

What every K5 Blazer chassis includes

Independent front suspension

Geometry, steering, hubs and brakes drawn from GM’s GMT900 platform, so replacement parts are never hard to find.

Multi-link rear

Locates the axle precisely, so the Blazer tracks straight at highway speed and stays composed on a rutted trail.

Rated to 800 horsepower

Built to carry modern GM Performance engine and transmission packages, LS and LT included.

Two-wheel, four-wheel or all-wheel drive

Configure the drive to suit the truck: two-wheel drive, electronic-shift four-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive.

Hot-dip galvanized

Every finished frame is immersed in molten zinc, sealing each rail and crossmember against rust inside and out. An epoxy primer and flat black finish is also available.

Bolts to the factory body

Built to the original Blazer body mounting points and proportions. No cutting, no drilling.

How a K5 Blazer chassis is ordered

A bare hot-dip galvanized K5 Blazer frame starts at $17,900. From there you choose how complete it arrives: the bare frame, the frame with parts shipped loose, or a fully assembled rolling chassis built in Minnesota. Shocks, brakes, gearing and the engine and transmission package are all selected in the chassis builder, which keeps a running total as you go.

Common questions

Will a Frame-Werx chassis fit my K5 Blazer?

Yes. Frame-Werx builds chassis for every 1969–1991 Chevrolet K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy. The early 1969–1972 trucks and the 1973–1991 square-bodies each have their own page with fitment details and pricing.

Do I have to cut or modify the body?

No. The chassis is built to the factory body mounting points and proportions, so the body bolts down without cutting or drilling, and the wheelbase and stance stay true to the original truck.

Why replace the frame instead of repairing it?

A frame that has rusted for fifty years rarely stops at the spots you can see. A new hot-dip galvanized frame resets the foundation of the truck, with zinc protection inside every rail and crossmember, and pairs it with modern independent front suspension in the same step.

Can I put an LS or LT engine in it?

Yes. The chassis is rated to 800 horsepower and is designed around modern GM Performance engine and transmission packages, including LS and LT combinations.

Is two-wheel drive available?

Yes. Each K5 Blazer chassis can be configured as two-wheel drive, electronic-shift four-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive.

How much does a K5 Blazer chassis cost?

A bare hot-dip galvanized frame starts at $17,900. The final price depends on the components you choose, and the chassis builder shows a running total as you build.

Do you ship outside Minnesota?

Yes. Frame-Werx chassis ship across the United States and overseas.
